I am a Danish author of historical and geopolitical fiction rooted in the world of international business. I also write practical business books for the software industry.

The Henrik Bertelsen Saga is a sequence of historical and contemporary novels spanning the period from 1970 to the present day. The final volume will bring the series full circle, ending as Henrik begins to write the first book in the saga.

Business books

I have written several books on international growth, sales channels and business development in the software industry. 5,460 Miles from Silicon Valley and Going Global on a Shoestring focus on international expansion. Building Successful Partner Channels explains how companies can develop effective indirect sales channels. Building Successful Business Models shows how software companies can design and build sustainable business models.

Historical and geopolitical fiction

The Henrik Bertelsen Saga is a series of historical novels covering the period from 1970 to the present day. Through Henrik’s career and family life, the books weave together real historical events, the rapid development of information technology, international business and geopolitical change. Fictional characters and storylines unfold against carefully researched historical settings, creating a blend of business adventure, political history and fiction informed by personal experience.

A career in the international technology industry

My novels draw heavily on more than four decades of experience in the international technology industry.

I began my career in the Danish public sector before moving into the computer industry at the end of the 1970s. Over the following decades, I worked in sales, marketing, business development, management and international expansion for technology companies ranging from large multinational corporations to small entrepreneurial ventures.

My work took me across Europe and North America, as well as to the Middle East, Asia and South Africa. It brought me into contact with customers, distributors, business partners, investors and executives from a wide range of business cultures. I saw at first hand how technology markets are created, how companies grow, how international partnerships are built and how ambition, internal politics, cultural differences and commercial pressures shape business decisions.

These experiences form the business backdrop to my novels. The companies, characters and plots are fictionalised, but many of the situations, dilemmas, negotiations and corporate dynamics are rooted in experience. My aim is to give readers an authentic view of international business while bringing the political and technological history of the period to life.
